Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) – one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 4th largest (2486 km2) and 5th most populous (345 000 inhabitants), with the capital in the city of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK City) and the most fertile soil in the UAE. The name “Ras Al Khaimah” means “top of the tent”.

RAK is a part of UAE since 1972. The RAK Emirate consist of nothern part (with RAK City), inland enclave in the south (with Shawka settlement) and few small islands in Arabian (Persian) Gulf.

Ras Al Khaimah City, the capital of Ras Al Khaimah Emirate, located at Arabian (Persian) Gulf coast, in medieval times the port of Julfar, which was one of the oldest settlements in the country. It is 6th most populous city in the UAE. Divided by the creek and mangroves into two main districs: Old Town and Nakheel.

Among RAK landmarks is Jebel Jais in North-Western Hajar Mountains, the highest point in the UAE, with the world’s longest zipline.
