55 years on the right-hand side

55 years ago Dubai switched from left-hand to right-hand driving. On September 1, 1966 (on Thursday – which was the first day of the weekend up to 2006) “the change in the rule of the road” came into effect.

The driving change was also done in other Trucial States (the United Arab Emitares union was created some time later – on December 2, 1971).

Hope Probe and “Martian” buildings

The landmarks of United Arab Emirates  have been lighted up in red as UAE’s Hope Probe – after 7 months and covering 493.5 million km – will reach Mars on February 9, 2021 after 7.30 PM (UTC+4). The Hope Probe mission objective is to capture and study the atmosphere of the Red Planet.
