Vatnsdalshólar: Water-valley-hillocks

Vatnsdalshólar (Water-valley-hillocks) – cone-like hillocks in Húnavatnssýsla district of Iceland (Northwestern Region – Norðurland vestra), easy to see from the Ring Road. Most of them are on the south side of the road, on the north side there is Þrístapar / Thristapar (Triple Hillocks), with a few hillocks. It is the place of the last execution in Iceland (12th January 1830).
