Pizza Napoletana

Pizza napoletana / Neapolitan pizza – a Naples-style pizza, made with tomatoes (San Marzano tomatoes or Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio) and mozzarella cheese (Mozzarella di Bufala Campana or Fior di Latte di Agerola), on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage and on the European list of Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) products. Neapolitan pizza is served either as pizza Margherita (with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, extra-virgin olive oil, fresh basil) or pizza marinara (with tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, oregano, garlic).

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples (Campania, Italy) has been serving delicious pizza (solo marinara e Margherita) for more than 100 years now. The pizzeria and its pizza have been featured in Eat Pray Love (2010) movie.

PS. A date to remember: February 9th – the World Pizza Day! 😉
