The Empty QuarterRub’ al Khali – desert seen from Tal Moreeb, one of the highest dunes in the world, considered to be the tallest one in the United Arab Emirates.

The Rub’ al Khali – a part of Arabian Desert – 1,000 km long, 500 km wide, with thae area of 650,000 km², covering parts of Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and Yemen.

Tal Moreeb and Rub’ al Khali are filming locations for many movies: Dune (2020), 6 Underground (2019), Race 3 (2018), Furious 7 (2015).

Reynisfjara beach in the rain

Reynisfjara – a black sand beach in near Vík village, at the feet of Reynisfjall mountain in Southern Region of Iceland. Named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is also one of the most dangerous, due to powerful sneaker waves. The name Reynisfjara is connected to the name of Reynisfjall mountain (in Icelandic: fjall – a mountain, fjara – a beach).

Next to the beach there is the Hálsanefshellir Cave (with dark basalt columns) and Reynisdrangar (basalt sea stacks). According to legends Reynisdrangar is either three-masted ship carried vainly by two trolls or the trolls and a woman, who freezed to death beacause of them.

Reynisfjara beach is a filming location of music videos and movies (among others: Noah, Star Trek into Darkness, Dilwale).

Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck

Remains of the 1973 US Navy Douglas C-117D aircraft that crashed – due to severe icing – on 27 November 1972 in Sólheimasandur (Southern Region, Iceland). That military transport plane was flying from Hofn Hornafjördur Airport to Naval Air Station Keflavik. All seven crew members survived the crash.

Today, the Sólheimasandur plane wreck is a tourist attraction, featured in many music videos (Justin Bieber – I’ll Show You, Ada Szulc & DJ Adamus – Ocean, Dierks Bentley – Black, New Politics – Tonight You’re Perfect) and movies (Dilwale).

Skógafoss

Skógafoss (Forests Waterfall) – a waterfall on the Skógá (Forests) river in Southern Region in Iceland. One of the largest in the country (60 m high, 25 m wide). Situated on the former sea cliff. Legend has it, the treasure of Vikings is hidden in a cave behind the waterfall.

A 22-km-long hiking route from Skógar (and Skógafoss) to Thórsmörk (Þórsmörk) goes through Fimmvörðuháls, the area between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.

Skógafoss is featured in music videos (Sólstafir Fjara, Justin Bieber I’ll Show You), TV shows (Game of Thrones – season 8; Vikings) and movies (Thor: The Dark World; The Secret Life of Walter Mitty; Dilwale).

Seljalandsfoss and Gljúfrafoss

Seljalandsfoss (Selling Land Waterfall) – a waterfall on Seljalands river (that comes from volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull), in Southern Region in Iceland, along the Ring Road. Its drop is 60 m high and you can walk behind it. Nearby, there is Gljúfrafoss / Gljúfrabúi (One Who Lives in the Canyon) waterfall with a cliff rock.

Seljalandsfoss is featured in music videos (Justin Bieber – I’ll Show You), TV shows (The Amazing Race 6) and movies (The Juniper Tree, On Top Down Under, Dilwale).
