Castel dell’Ovo / Ovo Castle / Egg Castle – a seaside castle on Megaride islet (now peninsula) in Naples (Campania, Italy), on the Gulf of Naples, the oldest standing fortification in th city. The first colony (Parthenope) was set up on Megaride in 9th century BC, later from 6th century it become Neápolis (New City).

The name of the castle is connected to the legend, according to which Roman poet Virgil hid the magic egg in the dungeons of the castle. The fate of the castle depended on that egg, so it had to be kept safe and untouched.

Next to the castle eastern wall there is Borgo Marinari, a 19th century fishing village, today famous for its restaurants and marina.
