A world in one country. Portugal will highlight the human spirit through the diversity and inclusiveness of its people, reflect the culture of creativity and innovation, and reveal an ecosystem of great opportunities.
Quick facts – Portugal Pavilion:
- Destination. Portugal was voted both the World and Europe’s Leading Destination at the 2019 World Travel Awards.
- Expats. The Expat Insider 2019 survey ranked Portugal as the best country in Europe for expats, and the third best worldwide.
- Peace. Portugal is the third most peaceful country in the world according to the Global Peace Index 2019.
- It has been 500 years since Fernão de Magalhães began the famous exhibition that would discover the connection between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and prove that the world was spherical. The Portuguese navigator’s journey is an early example of globalisation that brought people, cultures and knowledge together. Portuguese is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. There are more than 900 Arabic terms in the Portuguese language.
In the Portugal Pavilion:
- Explore a destination of diversity and a stage of opportunities.
- A space leading to a meeting in a common place and time: a shared future, supported by human values/
- Enjoy Portuguese gastronomy and lifestyle.
- Presentation area: a country in every face. In this space, the visitor will be the protagonist in this journey of connection with ‘others’. The vivid and dynamic images of faces and positive micro facial expressions, promote the idea of welcoming and will be the visitors’ first official greeting.
- Welcome area: hosts of the world. A variety of digital and analogue experiences to engage visitors with Portugal’s historic landmarks, heritage and Arab connection, music and sound, and art and crafts.
- Central experience: a world in one country. A journey is driven by an infinite curiosity that invites the traveller to let himself be guided by his emotions, and be carried away by his senses and sensations in a subtle, metaphorical and poetic aesthetic approach.
- Personalised experience: a country in the world. Visitors will be able to interact and learn more about the main themes of Portugal’s participation, including aerospace, blue economy, marine and water conservation, entrepreneurship, history and culture, renewable energy, science, tourism and hospitality.
- Relation: a language of the world. A library will provide the world with a literary experience of the Portuguese language. There will be a restaurant to share the flavours and traditions of Portugal, and an outside terrace where visitors can experience and enjoy the Portuguese lifestyle.

Looks like a great expo. I’m not surprised at Portugals growth and becoming a top travel destination. The culture is so welcoming. The food, fantastic. And the beaches (I remember when they were untouched) inviting.

Portugal has a very nice pavilion at Expo Dubai. You could feel as if you were there. But the country… still on my “to visit” list! 😀
