Around the world in 182 days: Holy See

The world’s smallest sovereign state with global influence. Pavilion of Holy See (Vatican City) at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, UAE.

November 24, 2021

Deepening the connection. The theme of the Holy See Pavilion is based on brotherhood, fraternity, and connection between cultures, while generating a message of peace to the entire world.

While it’s famously the world’s smallest sovereign state, the Holy See (or Vatican City) has a big impact on the world: seeking to build bridges of peace and cultural harmony that underpin the universal values of tolerance and coexistence. The Holy See Pavilion celebrates open communication between interreligious and diplomatic groups to break down walls that separate us. Discover a showcase of vividly illustrated illuminated manuscripts and, if you look up, a beautiful recreation of one of the Holy See’s most iconic treasures: Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling fresco inside St Peter’s Basilica.

In the Holy See Pavilion:

  • Hear its message highlighting the need to sustain inter-religious and diplomatic dialogue.
  • Recognise its creed of peace and harmony, underpinning the values of tolerance and coexistence.
  • Understand its mission to break down the walls that separate ethnic groups and nations.
