Al Sidra (2009) – a bronze sculputre of a sidra tree by Kuwaiti artist Sami Mohamed Al Saleh – at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard Downtown Dubai in Dubai, UAE.
By deriving inspiration from the highly resilient Sidra that is native to the region, the sculpture seeks to encourage on-lookers to respect nature. As a community, the Arab community has withstood harsh conditions to grow, prosper and branch out successfully – one aspect highlighted by the sculpture. – Sami Mohamed Al Saleh*
