Białystok: Branicki Palace – Versailles of Poland

Branicki Palace / Pałac Branickich –  a palace from late 17th century in Białystok in Podlaskie region of Poland. In 18th century developed in Baroque and Rococo style by the owner Jan Klemens Branicki. Known as Versailles de la Pologne (Versailles of Poland) and Versailles de la Podlachie (Versailles of Podlasie). In the palace complex: gardens, pavilions, sculptures. Now: museum and  Medical University of Białystok building.

  5. I’ve only passed through Białystok on my way to Vilnius from Warsaw last spring. I had no idea that it contained such a lovely palace. It’s true that Central/Eastern European palaces aren’t as well-known as those in France, but they’re worth seeing all the same! The flowers at Branicki Palace look so pretty, and I’d love to return to Poland to explore the lesser-known cities outside of Warsaw and Krakow. 🙂
