Akureyri – “the Capital of North Iceland” – a town at the base of Eyjafjörður Fjord, fourth largest municipality in the country (after Reykjavík, Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur), the seat of Northeastern Region of Iceland. An important port and fishing centre. Much of the houses in Akureyri are using geothermal heating.

- Akureyri Art Museum,
- Botanical Gardens.

I’ve never gone that east of Iceland, but I do hope to return to the country and drive the Ring Road to make it to Akureyri. One of these days!
