Warsaw Uprising Mound (Kopiec Powstania Warszawskiego) in Warsaw (Poland). The Warsaw Uprising (Powstanie warszawskie) – a major WWII operation by the Polish underground resistance – began on 1 August 1944 at 5 pm, with the aim to liberate the Poland capital from German occupation.

    1. You are right – it is an Anchor (in Polish: Kotwica). That abbraviation – PW – was an emblem of the Polish Underground State and Home Army (Armia Krajowa). PW – with time – came to symbolise the phrase “Polska Walcząca” (“Poland Fighting”).
