Supraśl Lavra

The Monastery of the Annunciation (Monaster Zwiastowania Najświętszej Marii Panny) in Supraśl, in Podlaskie province, is one of six Orthodox Christian men’s monasteries in Poland.

Founded in 1498 by Aleksander Chodkiewicz (the voivode of Nowogródek and the Marshall of the Great Duchy of Lithuania) and Joseph Soltan (the Archbishop of Smoleńsk and Archimandrite of Slutsk).

The Codex of Supraśl (Codex Suprasliensis) – a manuscript from 10th-century, the oldest Slavic literary work in Poland – was discovered here in 1823 by Michał Bobrowski. The Codex is on UNESCO’s Memory of the World list (since 2007).

Królowy Most: the Bridge of the King

In Królowy Most (the Bridge of the King) – a village in Gródek municipality (gmina), in Podlaskie province of Poland. The name of the village comes from the bridge which was built – according to the legend – during one night – that the Polish king could cross the river Płoska. In the village there is 19th-century Chapel of St. Anna (Kaplica pw. św. Anny) and Orthodox Church of St. Anna (Cerkiew pw. Św. Anny) from early 20th century.
