Jebel Hafeet (Jabal / Jabel / Jebal / Jebel Hafeet / Hafit) – a mountain (1249 m) in the Tawam region, considered as an outlier of Al Hajar Mountains. The sole and therefore the highest peak in Abu Dhabi Emirate. It is located on the border of the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi Emirate) and Oman, nearby Al Ain city (UAE) and Al-Buraimi (Oman). The name “Jebel Hafeet”, which means “empty mountain” in Arabic, comes from the Hafit Period, a period in UAE history in the Bronze Age. At Jebel Hafeet foothills over 500 beehive tombs from that period had been found.
