Lake Van (Van Gölü) – a saline soda lake, the largest one in eastern Turkey (with the area of 3,755 km2 and a shore 430 km long), one of the world’s largest endorheic lakes (with no outlet). The lake is a source of sodium carbonate and other salts (extracted by evaporation are used as detergents). There is a train ferry service across the lake (Tatvan-Van).
Mount Süphan (Süphan Dağı) is a composite volcano, second highest (4,058 m) in Turkey, located north of Lake Van.
