Biryani – one of the most popular dishes in South Asia, made with semi-cooked rice, Indian spices, meat, prawn, fish, vegetables or eggs. Developed by the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. The word “biryani” comes from Persian “birian” (“fried before cooking”).
One of India’s most famous biryanis is Hyderabadi biryani, orginally made with basmati rice, spices and goat meat.
