Hussain Sagar and Lumbini Park

Hussain Sagar – a heart-shaped lake located between the centre of Hyderabad (India) and its twin city Secunderabad, build in 1563 by by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, on a tributary of the Musi river. With the area of 5.7 km2. In the middle of the lake there is an artificial island (Gibraltar Rock) with an 18-meter high monolithic statue of the Gautama Buddha (carved for 2 years by 200 people, erected in 1992).

Adjacent to lake Hussain Sagar there is a small public park: Lumbini Park (T. Anjaiah Lumbini Park), constructed in 1994, with a jetty,  laser auditorium, multimedia fountain show.
