A Garden City in a Desert Country

Al Ain – from Arabic “The Spring” –  The Garden City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with highest in UAE number of Emirati nationals. Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – the first United Arab Emirates president – was born in Al Ain.

There are seven oases in Al Ain (with “falaj” irrigation systems): Al Ain Oasis (the largest), Al Qattara, Al Mu’taredh, Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Al Hili and Al Jahili (the smallest).
