On the Frankincense Trail

Frankincense – “luban” in Arabic, “white gold”, “tears of heaven” – is an aromatic resin of the scrubby Boswellia tree (in Dhofar growing on the border between misty mountains and open desert), that is burned for aromatic and medicinal purposes.  Dhofar was the center of frankincense trade and its “luban” is still considered the best in the world.
